Both of the default Economist recipes are not working anymore. Is anyone else getting this problem?

Works for me. Those are both connectivity errors. Either the Economist server was having trouble when you ran the downloads or something on your comupter, most likely and antivirus decided to block calibre from accessing th net.

Stopped working for me, too.
I got a message like the first the first two times it ran. I can connect to economist and the print url's fine in my browser. However, after the failed attempts the economist.com asked me to enter a captcha to open the site which I had never seen before. On subsequent tries I don't get a timeout after 30 seconds or so like the above errors, the news fetch stops after 2 seconds now with the error below which doesn't look like a connectivity error. I tried changing my IP a few times and after running the fetch the site will ask me for a captcha again. I think economist.com's servers may be interpreting the rapid downloads as an attack or malware (the message on the captcha says "Your computer might have been infected by some kind of malware and flagged by Incapsula network."). Perhaps the recipe needs to be slowed down in its rate of server pings? Spoiler:

Same problem. Would just buy the EU or US Kindle edition but I always feel ripped off since it doesn't include all the UK articles.

It is still working for me. So I cant really help. That recipe already touches the server only with a one second delay, you can try increasing that, if you want.

Sometime ago there was an issue with this recipe not working only from European countries, because the economist servers required a special cookie to deal with EU privacy laws. Are all of you in the same geographical locale?

Probably the economist servers are having some issues or they are rolling out updates.

Well yesterday I tried a couple US vpn locations as well as Singapore and none worked. Today the economist.com website won't even allow my home US location to load let alone the recipe but I was able to get the recipe to work from Mexico. Hopefully the message I got doesn't spread to other access points.

Hi all,
I had my economist download scheduled the same way for years and it did stop working in the middle of august. I guess something must have changed. Any clues? Does it still work for you Kovid? Thank you Tomas |
