I am sure you are right that adding the button to the other dialogue is the way to go but IMO using automerge with it's 3 comprehensive options is a better way to add books. Maybe that is just me.

You missed the point. I would NOT be happy with checking to ignore or merge duplicate files. I want to go over the duplicate records, at my leisure and decide which record to keep.

That desire is why I have ignore set. This way I can review dupes at my leisure using the find dupes plugin. I found that before I set ignore that the vast majority of dupe warnings were not dupes at all.

I agree that you should have a copy to clipboard button to be able to, if you choose, review the results at you convenience.

My point exactly - see my earlier post ==>> https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...3&postcount=24

@LadyKate - did you submit a Change Request I as suggested in that post.

BTW unb - I agree wholeheartedly with your 'if only for consistency' argument

Probably.

I mistakenly thought that you wanted them added to calibre with a clipboard option so you could do that. This can be done with the automerge create duplicate records option and can be done while adding a lot of books at once without having to decide immediately for each book. Even if it adds another format to an existing record it still is in the clipboard output.

For me it is good, but since you are happier with the non automerge then I am sure a button added would be far superior and certainly couldn't hurt in any case to make things more consistent.

Sorry

Well I never, 5 lines deleted 25 lines added = 30 lines

Six fewer than the number of posts in this thread

remember that git considers an addition at the end of a line to be 1 line deleted and a new line added, so that is 3 lines deleted 23 lines added and 2 lines appended.

And 2 of the other deleted lines were refactored into 3 lines added, to append a single argument to the (original) second line.

so really it is 1 line deleted, 20 lines added, 1 line appended, 1 line split in two; that's 23 lines.

Now show me any "Commercial" program that would get such a fast response. I did the request less than 24 hours ago.

Way to go Calibre!

If I remember correctly, I saw this when it had been committed "23 minutes ago" and checking your bug report, it had been added "18 minutes ago", so the time it took from you submitting a bug to him fixing it was really 5 minutes.

UPDATE:
Git(Hub) commit log:

Quote:
commit a1fa4a686ba85678168209394a9a3f5dc07d6b59
Author: Kovid Goyal <kovid@kovidgoyal.net>
Date: Thu Feb 6 12:28:01 2014 +0530

Adding books: Implement a copy to clipboard button for when duplicates are found during the adding process. Useful if you wish to review the list of duplicates later. See #1276918 (The Popup for duplicate records does not have a "copy to clipboard" option that would be most useful)

Date of Launchpad bug submission:
2014-02-06 06:53:26
Date of Launchpad bug closing, status fixreleased:
2014-02-06 07:06:27

Allowing for the time difference, that makes 4 minutes and 35 seconds, close enough

You do that and you will DAMAGE a calibre library.

Using a OS tool like that is similar to just deleting a program folder from Program files in windows... You leave chaos behind.
ONLY Calibre, should remove books from the Library
