Two updates in one day?
I find this a bit odd. I've had 2.5 for awhile so I've had my wireless turned on to see I'd get the latest update. Today at about 1:30PM my DX updated to 2.5.2. I went away to get some work done and when I glanced at it again a couple hours later it was updating yet again. I waited for it to finish and checked the version number and it was 2.5.3. Is this typical? Seems like it'd be more efficient to patch it from 2.5 directly to 2.5.3 instead of sending the patches in succession only hours apart.
So, is 2.5.3 the latest version? If I leave the wireless on overnight I'm not going to wake up and find it on entirely different version am I? Does anyone know what 2.5.2 and 2.5.3 fix? |

2.5.3 is the latest version and it usually arrives within a day or so of downloading 2.5.2 and no-one seems to know what it does. Even Amazon CS say it doesnt exist! But we know better.

That was exactly my experience too: got 2.5.2 one day, and 2.5.3 the very next day. Not sure why it's rolled out that way, though, and agree with Pushka above, no one seems to be able to tell the difference or what 2.5.3 is fixing (I figure it has to be a fix, just can't figure out for what).

Presumably 2.5.3 is a small bug-fix patch, and as such is a much smaller file than the major 2.5.2 upgrade file, so Amazon sends it as soon as a 2.5.2 Kindle syncs with the Amazon site (whereas it appeared Amazon was throttling the number of 2.5.2 files that would go out over Whispernet at any given time). It also appears that the K2-us either does not need the patch, or else they haven't released it, as it seems nobody with a K2-us at 2.5.2 has upgraded to 2.5.3.

Apparently, the 2.5.3 just updates the version tags, and a 'Journal' jar, and, no, I don't have any clue what the purpose of this jar is ^^. But it's the exact same behaviour as the 2.3.4 update.
