Geek Tools for moving files to/from the Library: ssh/sftp/rsync/samba

It would be really nice if I could grab files from local computers vis ssh/sftp. I'm sure everyone else would appreciate a nice fluffy GUI on top of sftp.

Windows people would probably appreciate if the edge could map a shared drive from a windows system (samba/cifs).

For me, even better yet would be the ability to use rsync to keep the edge backed up to another computer in one shot.

I found ConnectBot which does SSH

http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/In...id-71354.shtml

Works nice. Provides a full screen terminal. I was able to login to systems on my LAN. Unfortunately no SFTP with it.

Hello Ken,

I'd suggest trying out AndFTP (here is a link: http://lysesoft.com/products/andftp/index.html#features). It seems to work well on my SFTP servers. It only runs small screen and there are a couple of oddities, but the SFTP part seems to work well.

Where can that be downloaded? The blog says the program won't be available for some months.

Other Links

I guess the official Dropbox is not out yet heres one that is, http://www.androidzoom.com/android_a...pbox_fiuk.html
plus DroidBox http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...-com-wwqt.aspx

plus there is a mobile version of DropIO called DroidDrop http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...drop-qAqC.aspx
I'm not sure where you can find the apk files online. It will require patience and searching. I have had luck emailing developers and they have sent me apk files in the past. That might work.
Also have you tried Skydrive (you get 25 GB of online storage free) or Live Mesh (only 5GB) - both accessible from a web browser.

Thanks, it works ok, not great, but still better than unmounting and swapping the sd card.

The config seems to specify the sd card as the download location, but the files end up in internal storage. Also, the program acted brain damaged when trying to download from an nfs mounted volume. Never had a problem like that before. It can't be permissions.

Anyway, issues aside, this is an improvement. Now I can listen to my Lime CDs.

THANKS, AGAIN.
