I would think pest-control is somewhat easier in space which should be easily locked and sectioned. Just pump poison in/air out area by area and you are done.

I do like kinetic weapons, they could realy be the futures weapon. Maybe just use large piece of metal with sufficient thermal shielding and get nice amount of kinetic energy...

I would say it's good desing to have access to most parts from inside ship, saves lot of trouble, some parts aren't so easy but most things should be...

Just look at politics, it's general nature of humans and we will never get away from it unless we start killing every sociopath and narcist now, including most politicians and bussiness leaders...

Kind of reminded me of that Day in the Life episode of Babylon 5 that followed two maintenance techs. It was a nice behind the scenes type of episode and remember one of the Techs getting the weapons console working again by removing a cockroach like bug from it and complaining how they are everywhere in the station.

Have there been any sexy evil alien men? I have vague memories of baddies in Superman (1970s) but that's about it.

Well there was Ricardo Montalban back in the day...

My wife reckons he was pretty impressive in Star trek

He was not "quite" human either

Both my wife and youngest daughter like Chris Judge as Teal'c. He was Jaffa, not quite human either.

Yes, Stargate came to my mind first. But then my mind went to Number Six, Seven of Nine... and then my mind ceased to function properly (hormonal overdrive).

If that were the case, though, there would be no pest problems on submarines... and there are. One of the areas that pests like to be in the most is food storage areas, and you can't easily poison / irradiate / expose to vacuum those without harming the food.

At, say, a Star Trek: The Next Generation level of technology, where you no longer have to store food as food, but simply create it from raw matter on demand, you could probably get rid of pests. If you're dealing with, say, a Firefly level of tech, though, you'll still have them.
