Unhappy Edge not starting up

Ive done a search but can't find anything on this problem, after correctly shutting down my edge, it suddenly wont start up. it reaches the white entourage screen with the black shadows of people, but wont respond after that. Ive tried with the power plugged in and not plugged in, the only way to take it off that screen is to unplug the battery. :-( Im australian, so i really dont want to have to send it back to the states to service, though I have opened up a help ticket in support.

Anyone have any ideas? is there a way to do a hard reset? (I have all my uni work on it with non-backed up notes, so i don't really want to lose everything)

I think it's better to contact customer service to find out if there's an way to make backup via USB cable or SDcard (may be there is an very hidden option).

But probably you can apply manual update (NOT a golden one which destroy user data, but a usual one).

p.s. what you did before that happened? installed some app? delete anything?

p.s. also try to remove anything like SDcard or USB devices before trying to start EE.

I had a similar problem with my Edge. First thing I did was put it on the charger and it still didn't turn on. Next thing I did was fiddle with the battery release mechanism and try to reseat the battery. Then suddenly it powered up again and my Edge was working again. So definitely check if your battery is properly seated. I guess I was playing the battery release to see how easily was to change batteries, and I did not lock the battery in place. That did it for me.

Ditto. Same solution worked for me.

thanks for all your suggestions guys. I had no external storage plugged in, had not installed any new apps, and had done nothing different or unusual.
My edge would respond to nothing, I even tried a second battery
I really needed it back up and running for uni, so I decided I could go without my current work, ran the golden update, and I'm going to set up the library on an sd card as a back up if this happens again.
