What do you call a book stash?
I'm a knitter, and I realize acquiring yarn is a separate hobby. Knitters support those uncomfortable about their stash, give advice on reducing their stash, etc, etc. Knitters call it SABLE (Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy).
What do you call a large stash of books? Is the acquisition of free books an addiction? What qualifies as a stash, versus a "to be read" list? Is there help for those of us uncomfortable about our book stash? What do you think? |

How about an E-valanche, when you feel buried by the massive load of E-Books you've downloaded.

I've picked up Lilac's saying, and call it my TBR mountain. Am I uncomfortable about it? No, not really. I grew up surrounded by books and full to overflowing bookcases. I also do crochet. I have a yarn stash. But it's nowhere near to SABLE proportions. Oddly enough, if it was, I'd probably feel guilty about that, where I don't about books.

When my kids were young I made all their clothes, right down to their underwear... I had a whole room just for that, with sewing- and knitting machines and a built-in cupboard for materials...
Unfortunately, when we left for Australia, I had to leave it all behind... Now if all of that could have been digital... |

My mother refers to all collections of supplies as ballast. Her interests keep her on an even keel.
