Russian on PRS-505 with new Firmware

Hey guys,
what is the simplest (and safest) way to read Russian text (mostly in text format) on the new firmware ?

The simplest way is to make PDF files and read them. It is also the safest, although it's pretty safe to read LRFs and EPUBs with embedded fonts as well (but may not be as simple).

All the other methods are also quite safe, but they may require a little more work to get the Cyrillic fonts installed in your unit. But then you can read pretty much any text, as long as it is in Unicode.

I tried PDF, i printed Russian text to PDF using PDFCreator and loaded it in the reader. The PDF opened but with tiny text, i pressed the zoom and the device hanged. I had to hard-reset it. Hooray for PDF support.

For Unicode fonts with Cyrillic support and Russian localization among other languages (created by porkupan) I think PRSCustomizer is a reasonably easy solution for the 505. It also provides several other optional hacks.

Yes, in fact PRSCustomizer requires that your unit have the new firmware installed.
