FINE...

later...
- firmware update 4.1.0 exist
- why not, update...
uups, error U006 !?

study this forum -> unbrick your kindle is solution...

1. download images from http://gitbrew.org/~dasmoover/kindle/k4/forensic/
2. download all necessary tools by "A small debricking guide for “noobs”"
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=180789
3. start procedure - fastboot:

4. next step - putty:
Quote:

Devmode enabled
Reading vars from temp storage...
...None found, Copying vars from /proc
Setting bootmode to main
Writing new vars to temp area
You must reboot before new values will take effect
[root@[192_168_15_244] root]# reboot
now...
Kindle don't reboot, is frozen. Still diags screens and no reaction for keys...
Only possible works is press the combination of magic button and power button and start procedure again - with same result (5 times)

any suggestion for me?
I promise - no more hacks of my Kindle

Thanks for your help...

First: there is no need to flash diags with mmcblk0p2.img at K4NT, because SSH is already there.

Second: kernel version must be same as firmware version. Is your firmware version 4.0.1 ?

Third: you might to try before anything else set bootmode over SSH.
Connect to SSH and write following lines one by one.

idme -d --bootmode main
sync
reboot

Also, some people had trouble with the 4.0.1 images, try the 4.0.0 images from hostar. Links can be found in the pastebin mirror in the Simple debricking thread.

Connect your kindle to ac power and let it charge for a while, and try the debricking process again, that's what I had to do. I'm guessing you followed the guide posted in the simple debricking post by silver18?(or something like that, can't remember the name right now).

Just out of curiosity if you have and devices which plug in a USB to a wall charger you can just swap that USB to device cord with your kindle cord and it would work.

Now when I couldn't get the mfgtool to register when I pressed magic key I just charged my kindle for a while and tried again and used the tool to reboot into diags using the tool and it worked. Once you get into diags you can then get into usbnet and get into ssh.

From there I used the guide and the 4.0.0 images and everything went great. You should be able to update to 4.1.0 after.

Charge with a wall charger for a few hours, then use MfgTool to get to fastboot mode and charge it on the PC for a few more hours. It seems that fastboot mode does much better charging.

no success with your commands...

Then I download firmware 4.0.0 and with fastboot
Quote:
C:\Program Files\RS\KINDLE\Dev\fastboot>fastboot flash kernel main_kernel.img
downloading 'kernel'...
OKAY [ 0.188s]
writing 'kernel'...
OKAY [ 0.922s]
finished. total time: 1.109s
C:\Program Files\RS\KINDLE\Dev\fastboot>fastboot setvar bootmode diags
setting 'bootmode' to 'diags'...
bootmode diags:
finished. total time: 0.016s
C:\Program Files\RS\KINDLE\Dev\fastboot>fastboot reboot
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.000s
and the rest with putty.

After typing reboot from putty nothing happened - only putty was disconnected.
Different from previous state is - kindle is not frozen.
Disable diagnostic and reboot directly from kindle menu.

kindle boot to MAIN menu,yippee!!!

Now I have working kindle with firmware 4.0.0 and firmware update to version 4.1.0 is unfinished with error U006... Great
Before this story, I have firmware 4.0.1...

Somebody have stored update 4.0.1? No more available on amazon....
Or any suggestion about error U006?

Thanks again to all for your help.

JB

Contratulations on your successful learning experience! Your success report has been added to "the list". Hopefully, "next time" will be easier for you.

Remember, the main reason for debricking failures is (almost always) skipping a step in the simple debricking procedure, whether that means not charging the battery enough, or not flashing a matching kernel, or whatever other step was skipped.
