Is it bad to plug it in too often?

I have only had my ebook reader for a few days and have been impressed at how much quicker and easier it is to load content than it was with my departed eBookwise. I find that every day or so, there are a few things I want to add---from here, or from elsewhere. What I was worried about was whether it is bad for the battery to plug the device in if I am not charging it (I have never done that as it came charged on full). If I plug it into my computer for five minutes every day to transfer content, and then safely unplug it, is this bad for the battery or for the device? Is it better to stockpile stuff for a few days and add it all at once, less frequently?

You'll do no harm. Lithium ion batteries, such as the Sony has, do not mind being "topped up".

I've topped my up often. In fact, I seldom let it get below three bars and it still keeps a great charge

As a general rule, Lithium Ion batteries perform best when they are kept at as full a charge as possible. I don't usually get below 3 bars myself (unless I've done quite a bit of reading with the light on) and tend to "top up" every night. It's not that hard for me as I unload my laptop case and drop several things on chargers (netbook, cellphone, bluetooth headset, Sony Reader); it's kind of my nightly ritual before going to bed.

Actually, I did. While on vacation back in January, I resisted my normal urge to recharge it as soon as it went to three bars and was able to get through several books without having to plug the thing in.

I followed the instructions from Valloric and Igorsk to change my default fonts over the weekend. It seems to have given my 505 a "tune-up" and I noticed that the battery has not even gone down a single bar yet. Before, after 2-3 hrs of reading, it would start to drop. What do you suppose it did to make the battery useage so much better?

(And it installed a clock in the status bar, which I needed desperately.)

I've read the same as xianfox, charge often and early for best battery life. If I am not traveling I tend to charge every day.

I normally only charge once a week when the bar gets to 1. After reading this I may just start charging it more often because i'm also finding plenty to add throughout the week.
