Pogue slams B&N for incorrect Nook specs

Quote:
...

A couple of months ago, I reviewed Barnes & Noble’s Nook e-book reader. I confess, I didn’t love it much. It’s slow and buggy, the battery lasts one-third as long as the Kindle’s, and the bookstore prices are generally higher than Amazon’s.

But this week, I discovered something that’s sort of shocking, when you think about it: Barnes & Noble has been claiming that the Nook weighs less than it really does.

OK, not by much. The company says the thing weighs 11.2 ounces. In fact, it weighs 12.1 ounces. (I discovered this when my daughter set it on a home postal scale. Later, I confirmed it with a fancier scale at the actual post office.)

That’s right: Barnes & Noble conveniently shaved 7.4 percent off of the Nook’s weight, and hoped nobody would notice.

Either they fixed the site really fast or they figured this out before Pogue because the B&N site lists it as 12.1 oz.

Heh, I think he's already done enough damage to Nook sales through his review and 'funny' video. Yet another bitter Nook-bashing article makes me wonder if he has an agenda we should know about. Interestingly, none of his books are available as ebooks on BN: http://books.barnesandnoble.com/sear...TH=David+Pogue, while most of them are available for the Kindle through Amazon and O'Reilly (though you can still read them on the Nook because O'Reilly books are DRM free).

I don't think Pogue has an agenda. After all, his review was very similar to numerous other reviews, including Mossberger's. And none of O'Reilly's "Missing Manual" books are available in B&N's ebook format.

Maybe the claimed weight is without a batter and/or back cover?

people, people....!!! The weight difference is because of the books Pogue added to the reader...I mean that should be oblivious after all!
