Onions, Oliver: Widdershins. v.1.1, 17 Nov 2007

Oliver Onions, pronounced oh-NY-ons, was a significant English novelist who published over forty novels and story collections.
He wrote several collections of ghost stories, of which the best known is Widdershins (1911).
It includes the novella, The Beckoning Fair One, a masterpiece of psychological horror.

Thanks giving ebook readers a chance to discover the special charm of this author! I have a paper book of The Collected Ghost Stories of Oliver Onions, which I treasure.

You're welcome.

Concerning the pronunciation of his name, he personally used "On-NY-ons" but apparently his family pronounced it like the vegetable.

I wonder why Widdershins displays on my Kindle 2 as Onions_Widdershins. When I choose to display my books alphabetically by author, Oliver Onions does not display. I have the same problem with books by Chekhov, Maupassant, Josephine Tey & Sherwood Anderson. I have used both MobiPocket Reader & Calibre to edit them, in vain.
