Has Kobo Disabled Reading from the Website?
Greetings,
One of the really innovative things about Kobo was that it allowed you to read online as well as on your reader/phone/tablet. When I got my Touch, I was able to synch between the website and the eInk device without problems. Just today, I wanted to read a short story I had added to my library and I was shocked to find that I had no way of doing so from the website. Have they moved things around or has the online reading option been disabled? If the latter, why on earth would they do such a thing? It originally gave them a bit of an edge on Amazon and Google Books and to abandon it now that those last have adopted themselves is insane. 'Security' (i.e. 'piracy' couldn't have been an issue, given the way that it was implemented (via flash). What gives? |

I hadn't noticed. I remember reading about Kobo creating an html5 alternative to flash. It may be that this is related.

I've had similar thoughts but why on earth would you disable the working product (it even worked on my Android Tablet!) when you don't have its replacement ready?

I have no idea why this might have been done in this way, but I do know that things that make no sense to me often seem to make a whole lot of sense to the people responsible for the project. Maybe one of the web development folks will chime in here.
