I found I wasn't buying books anymore because I didn't know where to put them when I wasn't reading them. And I wasn't re-reading the books I had because they are stored in the basement behind a stack of storage boxes. I got an ebook reader so that I wouldn't have so much trouble storing and retrieving the books I want to read.

I also love and own A LOT of books. It just became overwhelming, especially since there are several I really don't want to part with and in fact do re-read every few years.

And I like new tech toys, so the timing was right for me. It has worked out very well. I love my Kindle.

My dad gave me his old K2 (he'd upgraded to a K3), and after about half an hour of playing with it, I was in love. No more heavy books hurting my hands! and the space saving at home is well worth it too.

Carrying 500+ page books (my average before adding short stories, which I never would have read if it weren't for the Kindle) on the train and trying to read while standing was becoming a problem, especially when it was a new release and in hardback. I looked at them for a while and hinted that I wanted one and my wife gave me a K3-3G for Christmas. I have read a few paper books since, but not many, it is hard to go back to that.

I'd read about the Sony 500 and thought it was cool, but it was out of my price range. Then when I got married, I took a whole book bag of books on our honeymoon and we still had to go to the library. We read, ate and um, stuff.

I swore never again would I lug around 50lbs of paper...

I started reading ebooks on my desktop then I got a netbook and I used that but the screen was super glossy and the thing got hot! I finally decided to get eReader because I wanted to read more comfortably.

I bought a ezReader Pocket Pro because at the time there was a really nice guy who hung out here who promoted them. This is how I found MobileRead. I loved reading on my new eReader! It was so much easier to read with then the clunky netbook of mine. Eight Months later when Pearl came out I got a Kindle Keyboard because it's all about the contrast for me. I now own several Kindles. I seldom ever read a paperback but I do still buy them.

Carry? Hell! I'd never leave that room. I have about 7,000 books and no place to put them. I WANT that room!

I didn't want an ereader since I was used to getting my books for free at the library or cheap at thrift stores. When I could only read large print, and then still got headaches, I began to think about an ereader.

Now headaches and print size are never a problem. My arthritic hands no longer suffer holding books. I can get more free or cheap books than I imagined, but I love my readers so much that I spend much more on books than ever before. I can travel with an entire library.

Obviously, you need a new, much bigger house.

Free books. Laptops aren't very portable for reading. And that's it.

Ebooks have, however, grown on me. Pushing a button is easier than turning a page. I can carry as many as I want. They save my page when I'm done reading.

I can search them!

So yeah. Ebooks are the best.

I also love being able to put a cursor over a word and instant definition pops up. It's like having a dictionary and a book at the same time.

Voracious reader, no more room for paperback books, and the ability to adjust the font size to something that is comfortable for me.

I started reading e-books purely by accident. I was reading Persuasion and planned on reading some of it during a lunch break. I left the p-book at home and decided to download it to my iPod Touch. I thought I would hate it (yes, I was one of those people who thought that "real books" were different from e-books) but I actually liked it. I found that I read faster when reading on a screen as opposed to reading on a page. Now, I read as much fiction as I can on my e-reader. Some fiction I can't get in e-book format (which sucks) so I still read some fiction in paper format. However, I prefer the former.
