Ebook conversion service

I'm hoping someone can give me a recommendation on an ebook conversion provider. Not a program, but a person who converts Word to EPUB and can do a good job without introducing new mistakes.

Alternatively, a site recommending conversion services would be helpful.

Why pay someone else to click the convert button in calibre?
If you're lucky, that's what half of them will do anyway...

As long as the book is properly made in Word, with styles and everything, that is all that is needed anyway.

Alternatively, @Hitch is a professional bookmaker, and well-respected here. She could help you fine-tune the design of the book.

Hmmm ... my grandfather was a bookmaker (and bartender) in Queens, back during prohibition.

Different thing, probably.

I'll click the 'convert' button on calibre for $50.

If I have to click it twice, the heavy labor charge of using my thumb will raise the price to $100.

Well, yes you can -- if you don't actually need her services because your source documents are good, and you can handle it all yourself. Then you are paying someone for an unneeded task.

But yes, her services are sterling.

It all depends on what you need doing. The mere act of conversion from Word ==> EPUB does not in and of itself demand paid professionals.
It is the cleanup of internal markup and fine-tuning/tweaking layout and dealing with fonts and ToCs and other assorted beasts where you might need/want help, but a lot depends on what kind of source documents you already have.
