Shell Access ?

I downloaded the Shell Access "Stuff" from the Developer Center...

However I cannot find any trace of the rascal...

I tried Downloading again but it said there was nothing to download.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there supposed to be some doc on how to use the package?
Is there anyway to tell if the package is installed?

Jerry

I just went back to the developer site and re-requested the package
and downloaded the rascal. The system rebooted after the down
load completed still can not find any changes...now what?

Jerry

Same here. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14799.

Except that mine hasn't rebooted.

Try using one of the third party apps and see if it works - you won't see any other changes.

You won't see anything visible. The only change is that it now recognises ".sh" scripts as executable files, allowing you to install new applications.

Ok,

What is the next step? Is there any nifty thread(s) that can outline
how to gain access to the internals (ie maybe ssh from a machine
to the iLiad) ?

Is there a simple thingy that can be installed as a test?

Is there a discussion of how not to break the iLiad?

I have downloaded the "CF Card Contents" folder and the how
to reflash pdf. I guess I have to go buy a small CF for fixing
an emergency recovery device.

Thanks,

Jerry

For pre-built packages, see Iliad Software.

Try installing, say, FBReader. Not only will it test that shell access works, but it's also a great addition to the iLiad.
