No-Frills-Sigil-Epubs
I'm not an expert in book formatting.
Just somebody who likes to read books. I'm also a minimalist: less is better. That's why i began looking for a simple method to change sloppy or extensively formatted ebooks into clean formatted books, that don't distract while reading. I knew i had to do it with sigil. My workflow is the result of learning, doing, learning... Maybe it can help somebody else, who hasn't much time to find out for her/himself. Have a peek at the attached file (in epub-format of course!) -webe |

No-Frills-Sigil-Epubs (continued)
You want to follow my progression in epub-editing with sigil?
A month has passed since i posted my first report about my experiences with editing in sigil to make no-frills-epubs. Since then i made some progress in understanding Regular Expressions. By reading, learning and doing. Again. The result you can find in the attached file: no-frills-epubs (sigil)-CH v2.epub In it you'll find more tips, but also a new chapter ADDENDA, where i report about my progress in The Land of Regex Magic & Mystery. Take a peek. webe |

Fyi the next version of Sigil has a new Regular Expression engine. It supports PCRE. If your regex section is Sigi specific you will probably need to update it once 0.5 is out at some unknown point in the future.

Will the regex engine in 0.5 support case conversion and multi-line?

Possibly, probably, I only have support in the replace text for numbered and named references. I'll look into adding this because it seems useful but if it's too much trouble then no because it's not a super useful feature.
Yes. |

No-Frills-Sigil-Epubs (continued)
Although i've learned something about regular expressions - see the first reports of my ramblings in Regex Land - i'm still uncertain about how to find my way. So i went back to the beginning, to answer the question: WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT? How? By reading the first chapter of a couple of books, where the author tries to explain to me the fundamentals of regular expressions. Here i report the results of this "close reading". webe ps. this is version 4, in it you'll also find addenda (2) Last edited by webe; 11-01-2011 at 05:31 AM. Reason: forgot heading |
