I wonder if part of his complaint comes from a "offshored" Customer Service center where the rep he talked with had poor English skills.

would not surprise in the least, most of the call centres for my bank/credit card /utilities including ISP are non-UK based ....

Ugh. The first time I bought an iPod I had to do that through phone (yes, I think they off-shore Italian language call centers too)- they kind of lose it :P so I can feel his pain. Still he's exaggerating :P

How much do you think a Billion is?

In Europe, most people would say it is million millions, that is 1 000 000 000 000 or 10^12
In USA, however a Billion is a thousand millions, that is 1 000 000 000 or 10^9
Could that be a reason why there are many more billionaires in USA

in this context it does not really matter, the sum is unrealistic (even in an attempt to make a point), and probably will be laughed out of court and only likely to benefit his legal representatives ?.

An American billion trillion is a 1 with 21 0's... (10^21) (at least, according to the Dutch newssite...)

I find it weird that such a number can have several meanings...
