What was the first e-book you read and on what device? - Page 5

The first eBook I think was Star Trek: TNG: A Time to Be Born by John Vornholt and I read it using MS Reader on my desktop computer.

My first e-book was "The Japan that can say no" on an IBM S/36 (do I get a prize for using the least portable e-book-reader?).

It was not really a book I would endorse to others, but I wanted to read it at that point in time and found a LaTEX version of the book on BITNET (one of the predecessors of the WWW)

I vaguely remember that it was not really very useful (had to go to the University computer rooms to read it), until I printed it out.

Shape Shifter by Tony Hillerman, in .LIT, with MS Reader on an old, long since dead, iPaq PDA. I read like crazy on that PDA, before moving on to a PRS-500, and also a newer iPaq with more memory, and have hardly bought a paper book (other than gifts and textbooks) since.

Some newsletters on my Palm V. I thought about loading a book, but at the time it seemed like a lot of trouble.

Then some novels on my iBook(12" G3 white iBook firewire). I still have it.

Well over 15 years ago I used to read on my PC. There was a site that had public domain PDFs of about 50 classics. I remember Dracula and Little Woman but I read quite a few of them. I also discovered Project Gutenberg a little later and purchased a CD of a few thousand ebooks, still have it. I didn't get a stand alone reader till Kindle 1 but did use a PSP to surf and read now an again. I still have that PSP but have not touched it in over 5 years.
