Kindle DX on sale today at Amazon, $80 off

FYI, it's their deal of the day.

$299 instead of $379

They put the K2 on sale just before the K3 came out...

I wonder what on earth a new one could offer though? The current gen already has a pearl e-ink screen. Most of the DX Graphite's deficiencies seem to be software-related.

A firmware upgrade?

The DXG is great for regular books, but when talking about PDFs .... not the best. Even the Kindle 3, which is cheaper and smaller, has better PDF features.

Well, if the k3 has better PDF features, I hate to think how bad they are on the DX. No reflow, no zoom except by huge increments.

Unfortunately, PDF is just not a priority for Amazon.

It's sad, but it looks like that's the case.

Now, to be fair, if you are going to read sequential PDF documents or you don't need annotations, it is probably the best device we currently have.

So tell me, why does a 9,7 inch device need features like reflow and many zoom increments?

Well, it doesn't need. But it should has the option 'fit to margins'. Has it?

Yeah, it has. Well, it´s not an option, the kindle does it automatically.

Because 9.7 is still a lot less than 13 (8.5x11). Also, I want to zoom in just enough to get rid of margins and header and footer.

Great news anyway.
This must mean the new model will be coming soon, I think.

Hey, can't wait, another $400 model that Amazon won't update at all is coming!

they suckered me in once with the DXG, they won't do it again. Say NO to DX!
