I have recived fiio x5 and an ibasso dx 90.

Use doubleTwist - it recognizes both devices, and syncs my iTunes library.

The Fiio is rather big and heavy, the sound is excellent. It definitely a sturdy device cut from a block of metal. The ibasso I just got this evening. So haven't listened to it yet, it's still syncing.

The dx 90 has only 1 slot, but is much lighter than the Fiio , but the headphone jack is on the bottom and the USB cable is out the top, kinda weird. The other thing to check out is

Can you not just use the 64 GB iPod Touch? Apple is only killing the iPod Classic.

The only people I've heard of using an iPod touch are under 16; kids who don't have a smartphone. I've never actually met anyone who owns one. Seems like a waste of technology to have wifi, graphics card, etc for a music player.

It's only a matter of time before they discontinue the iPod touch as well - probably when the watch comes out they will take them all off the market because doesn't everyone want to stream music - and by music, I mean U2 of course - from your apple watch?
