Tried to turn WiFi off and now Kindle looks bricked
Hi there,
I bough a book off amazon, and tried to transfer it to my Kindle through Wifi. It did not start downloading, so I decided to turn the Wifi off and do it by usb instead. However, when I went to put the device into aeroplane mode, the spinning wheel started at the top of the screen when I clicked on the aeroplane mode option, and the screen then froze. I then tried to turn it off completely (holding on/off button for 7 secs), nothing happened, and the spinning wheel was still there. I then tried to turn it off for a second time, holding the on/off button for 7secs, and it seemed to turn off properly. However, now I cannot get it to do anything. I don't know what has happened. I have it jailbroken, with the fonthack installed, but there is nothing wrong with the font. Please help, as I am panicking: eek: PLease help. Last edited by Waylander; 10-11-2013 at 11:23 AM. |

The screen just flashes black and then goes blank again. Even connecting it up to my laptop doesn't do anything, as it does not show the "connected" sign.

How do I stop this cycle, as every time I go to turn the wifi off, it does the same thing again, so I have to do the full restart. I looked in the downloading items, and the two books that I clicked on are pending, and the wifi is only on one bar. This means that they are staying on pending. What do I do?

hmmm... did you list ALL the modifications you have made?
Have you successfully downloaded books before using the store mechanism. Other info like that. |

Also, more details on which fonts you're using, this possibly is the wonderful 'don't like the font so, hey, let's break the framework!' issue.
One sure way to dispel this as a possible cause would be to disable the fonts hack or enable an FT override. |

I have only installed the fonts hack, with the Georgia font. I have managed to download books from the store before with the font hack installed. It may have something to do with the fact that the wifi signal was really weak(1 bar), which may have meant the system became overwhelmed with too many things "to do". Anyway, thanks for your help.
