VERY poor screen resolution and a far from stellar battery life. Sounds very "middle of the road" to me.

I don't know about it being a rival, other than it's a competitor in the 7" market. The specs are crappy compared to most current 7" stuff, it's more in the class of the Nook Color or other stuff from that generation.

"Most affordable" seems to imply it'll be cheap. It'll need to be, with those specs.

$149 is too much. Price it at $99 and they'll have a smash hit on their hands.

I expect this kind of junk from Acer, but not Asus. Too bad, Asus was really emerging as a good quality manufacturer. In design and build anyway.

Is it the same? The iPad has a larger screen (7.9" vs. 7") and it's a different aspect ratio. I've not done the maths - does the Asus come out at 163ppi, the same as the iPad?
EDIT: No, if my calculations are correct, the Asus has a slightly higher resolution: about 167dpi, compared to the iPad's 163. (Assuming it's a 16:9 aspect ratio screen with a 7" diagonal, that makes the height 6.101". 1024 pixels divided by 6.101 = 167 dpi) Last edited by HarryT; 02-05-2013 at 10:32 AM. |
