Remember, Labs were bred as a hunting retriever dog. Like Irish Setters, and Golden Retrievers...

My mother taught their black lab puppy to sit-up-and-beg. Adorable when he was a puppy. When he grew into his size, he'd still try it, but his barrel-chest made him top-heavy and he'd tip over!
It wasn't fair for such a lovely beastie to be such a goofus! (Oh - and she fed him gummi bears. Don't do it, you'll never have peace again). |

Ugh. DH encouraged Waldo to beg. He rolls back on his butt & flaps his front paws around like a furry cheerleader...all the while growling and yiping.
He loves freezies, and when he sees me pull one out the frenzy begins... |

My puppy already knows how to beg. We're working very hard to teach her it's pointless, she won't get any of our food just because she look cute and sad... it's not working so far.

They are very good at making out they are on the brink of starvation, aren't they! I am convinced that a Labrador would still be asking for food at death's door.

I'm convinced that my lab, when I have collapsed from a heart attack and lying on the. Floor, would be standing over me. With. Her squeaky, demanding that I throw it for her.

I have a mini aussie that would do the exact same thing. As soon as I sit or lie down on the floor it must be playtime.

Sometimes I just want to throw my iPad out the window. Please ignore the bizarre formatting of the above note.
