I am actually running 64 bit version now, but I'm desperate and I'll try anything. Is there someway I can preserve my library during the un-installation?

You can uninstall freely, it does not affect your library or your settings. According to the info you posted before in this thread you are running the 32bit version. If you are running 64bit, you will see the word 64bit in the ststu bar at the bottom of the main calibre window.

Thank you so much! Switching to the 64bit version seems to have done the trick.
