Kindle search question

I am new to Kindle and would like help with finding a particular chapter in a book. For example, finding the section on Mathew in the bible?

The best way to find a chapter in a book is by using the table of contents. After you've opened a book, press MENU, select "Go to..." in the drop down menu and then choose table of contents. If your eBook has been formatted correctly, you should now find all your chapters.

Some of the Bibles are formatted with "Quick Verse Jump" so all you have to do is enter 2 or 3 letters and the chapter and verse. Others you need to do as already suggested.

Using the table of contents (AKA the "TOC") is probably the best route for your particular example, assuming the book has a properly built TOC.

With the book open, you could also press MENU and select "Search this book..." entering "Mathew" in the search field. This will result in a list of every place in the book where the search string exists. This would be a very long list for your example, but would find only two if you were searching for "Shalmaneser" (I think I spelled it correctly). If you were looking for a particular phrase and accurately knew 3-4 words then searching for that phrase would generally result in either a unique result or at least a short list. BTW, if you just start typing while on the HOME screen the search window will open and when you click to run the search the Kindle will search every book on the device.

Depends on which version of the Bible you're using. OSNOVA's Bibles have DVJ (direct verse jump.)
