This all kind of reminds me of the late George Alec Effinger's short story "Maureen Birnbaum and the Saint-Greal" (part of the excellent and recommended Maureen Birnbaum, Barbarian Swordsperson series) where while on the quest for the Holy Grail, Maureen keeps getting these helpful encouraging congratulatory notes upon uncovering each Clue towards the grail which pretty much all ended with "and remember to stay pure, no matter what your disgusting fleshly senses tell you. Pure is the way to go!"
