We point out free and bargain SF/Fantasy titles to each other. Please don't post any self-published books*, and please do a search before posting to avoid duplicates.

Be aware that many freebies are only free for a day, so grab them fast!

*Unless you have read them yourself, think they are excellent, and you're not connected to the author in any way.

Chuck Wendig's urban fantasy Blackbirds is on sale for $1.99 at Amazon US. Looks like it might be matched elsewhere too--Barnes and Noble is showing the same price.

Thanks for the pointer. I don't think I even managed to look at last year's but I'm sure I'll download this new one, anyway, when I get home. Heck, I might even try to nominate some people for the award this year.

Just in case anyone else runs into the same problem, my first attempt to download the anthology seemed to go well, but Calibre complained that it couldn't open it, and that it wasn't valid. A second download worked just fine.

They mentioned high demand -- I suppose that could be causing some problems. When you download it, try to open it as soon as you can, just in case you have to download it again.

The new UK Kindle Monthly Deals start today, and among the SF/F highlights are:

The Last Wish - Andrzej Sapkowski
Deathless - Catherynne Valente
Graceling - Kirsten Cashore

Oh, also Sirens of Titan - Kurt Vonnegut. I hadn't registered that because I've already read it.

As I'd hoped would happen this month, Kim Harrison's tenth "Hollows" book, A Perfect Blood, is now on sale for $1.99 as a publisher sale (so it's good at Amazon, B&N, Kobo, et al.). Curiously, only the original version is discounted; the later ebook with "Bonus Material" is still regular price.

I haven't bought any yet, but I guess I have all month. The Last Wish is almost a certainty, even if I'd have maybe preferred The Blood of Elves.
