ADE question- i got lost in the thread

poor little ol me got his question lost in the other thread, so, hoping new real-estate will help get an answer

--still wondering where the ACE program is supposed to be located so i can install it 8(
--and, so if you download a book that is DRMed, you MUST have your PP connected? I wanted to just drag and drop books through my internal PC card reader ?

Go here http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/

To download an Adobe encrypted book you don't need to have the PP connected. You only need to connect it to have ADE copy the book to your reader.

If you want to drag and drop, you need to strip the DRM from the books. Google for ineptepub for more info and/or see the thread on MR.

Dear Cancelx:

When you download ADE it will appear on your desktop
It will also automatically create a new file on your computer under "My Documents" called "My Digital Editions"
When you download a DRM eBook in ADE, it will appear in "My Digital Editions"
From there you can drag and drop into your SD card

You need to authorize the PP through ADE, though, don't you?

The only reason I have ADE is to download epub's which I then strip the DRM from and load into Calibre which does the actual book management.

Yes.
Once it is authorized, you can drag and drop or use Calibre to put the title in a normal folder.

When I title in Astak's Store says that... does it mean it's DRM and I need ACE on my computer to download it ?

We are trying to show which titles on our website are DRM and which are not.
I will check to see if "Adobe Digital Edition PDF" is always DRM or not!!

It also is not ACE... it is "ADE". Just trying to help.

Some of you are anxious to see this eBook Store work optimally and to get Steven Lake eBooks. Me too.

However, the biggest thing that needs to happen VERY quickly is to allow you to deal direct with the eBook Store specialists and be able to talk reviews, problems, questions, authors, titles, wants, disputes, and casual posts done.

Therefore, the webmaster is undertaking putting a full fledged FORUM on www.MyEZread.com. This is a huge task and will be really helpful when done.
So... this has been given number one priority and he is spending huge chunks of waking hours doing this. Please do not think that little is being done... he is trying to do all of the changes PLUS get the FORUM up!

Yes, you now can sort by PDF and EPUB titles. Many of you asked for this. We are listening and we are acting. These suggestions you have made WILL give our eBook Store some things other eBook Stores do not have!

Thank you!! Our whole idea is that in order to survive in the face of the Agency Model where publishers are setting the price... MyEZread.com needs to change and be unique. What will help make it unique is constant contact with end users. It is kinda like what we do with our eBook Readers on this Astak Dedicated Forum. SO many newbies have written and said: "I am buying an Astak device because Astak listens and interacts with us". This does not mean we are perfect at all in any way... only that we listen and try to improve.

So... getting a forum on MyEZread is more of the same. We want to listen. We also want others that like, for example Steven Lake, to post what they like and what they don't and what they want better... by "chatting" with others. We want to have the eBook Specialists monitoring and doing reviews of eBooks and answering problems and making all who become free members to feel at home and catered to.

I think if there is one thing that sets Astak apart... it is interactivity. We do not act stand-offish or arrogant like other device manufacturers. We admit we want to improve and get better.

I would say we still stay here, but if we've got something that is specifically related to the bookstore, we'd post over there.

Yes, this Astak Dedicated Form on MobilRead will be device only and the forum on MyEZread will be eBooks only.

This is so the eBook Specialists and the "Renegade Intern" herself can dwell only on the eBooks. She will know very little about our devices overall. She has a pink EZ Reader she uses and she knows all about downloading... but her expertise will be that website and not devices.
