Reader wont turn on

Hi,

Last night my dr1000 was working fine. When I got up this morning it refused to power on and when I plug in the usb cable nothing happens (i.e. no lights come one). Pressing the reset button doesnt seem to do anything either (should there be some "give" on the button, when I press it with the stylus it doesnt seem to move). Ive had it "charging" for an hour or so at this point and still nothing. Any suggestions?

Did you reset after the hour loading or pressed the 'start'-buton? Disconnecting and reconnecting with usb after a few minutes could also help if for some reason the internal logic decided not to charge the first time. (there is a protections agains overloading, maybe that is sometimes triggered when the DR in completely empty, instead of completely full?)

Good luck!

Tried resetting it after an hour, tried powering it on normally. Tried resetting or turning it on with the memory card in and out. Still no joy. The irex knowledge base says to leave it for four hours, so Im going to try switching usb leads and leaving it for four hours.

Try charging it from a Wall charger and leave it for about 30mins. This was a not uncommon occurrence with the older versions of the software. What software version are you running?

It's perfect. You should charge the device for 3 or 4 hours and then try to turn it on. If this doesn't work try to reset, but use the tip of something harder, for example a paper clip, instead of the stylus tip.

Good luck, specially knowing there is no more customer support from Irex .

Try pressing the reset button several times (like 10 or 15). If you can't "feel" the reset button clicking, try pressing it at a slightly different angle.

The new software fixed it for you? (I think I'm hearing a reason to upgrade after all .)

However it has only "failed to charge" once since I upped to version 2 and never on version 3.

Fingers crossed
