Laurids Bruun, dänischer Erzähler (1864-1935); arbeitete als Einkäufer in Batavia (Jakarta) für das Handelshaus seines Onkels. In den 90er Jahren unternahm er Studienreisen durch Europa, Kleinasien, Südostasien und in die Südsee und verfasste u.a. die exotisch-fantastischen, in der Südsee spielenden Van-Zanten-Romane (1908-30).

Der zweibändige Roman Der unbekannte Gott spielt im Orient und in Asien.
