looking for jailbreak on brand new 3.2.1 *without* special offers

Hi. First time post but have been looking at forums carefully and can't find an answer.

1) I received a new Kindle3 Wifi yesterday (5/31). It is the normal priced one without special offers. It came loaded with firmware 3.2.1 (576290015).

2) I can't get any of the jailbreaks to work with this version. I want to load new screensavers.

Can anyone else confirm that there are no jailbreaks that will currently work with 3.2.1? If so, is anyone making progress and is there anything I can do to help?

thanks!

That's odd. The newest firmware on Amazon's site is 3.1. I wonder what 3.2.1 gets you over 3.1.

Yeah, I'm guessing mine must be one of the first. The forums seem to include a few smatterings of examples from the last few days, but I can confirm that Amazon is indeed shipping 3.2.1 on new, non-Special Offer wifi devices.

The jump from 3.2 to 3.2.1 stops the jailbreaking method from working.

My recently purchased 'special offer' K3 has 3.2.1 and I too am frustrated that I can't JB it.

Can also confirm. Ordered my no-ads K3 on May 25th, received it yesterday with 3.2.1.

As I've been reading around, I know there's been a little bit of a moral debate on whether KSO owners should be able to replace Amazon's ads. But now that it's effecting both versions of the K3, hopefully a jailbreak will be released sometime soon.

Companies like Amazon don't really want to prevent jailbreaking because it actually creates 'buzz' for a device and expands its market. They just want jailbreaking limited to a small group of geeks who are willing to jump through some hoops. Remember that Amazon released the source code for the Kindle. So I think they'll just do things from time to time to raise the bar but they'd never make it impossible.

Everything I've been able to find says no. I did read a couple posts about extracting the firmware from an older kindle to install on a newer one, but no confirmation on whether it really works, or instructions on how to do it.

If that is possible, I'd love to know, as my wife got her kindle a few months ago at 3.1, and I could theoretically do this with hers to roll mine back.

Yeah, but it wouldn't it be a lot easier if they just let us change the damn screen savers (on no-ad Kindles at least), since that's what most jailbreakers are looking to do anyway?

Absolutely. That part I don't get, unless maybe their marketing guys see it as part of the "branding".

A new JB cannot come too soon for me; I'm really, really tired of looking at those Oil of Olay ads.

Hey, I'd just like to chime in that I'm in the same boat. My wife's Kindle 3 WiFi recently broke (screen damaged) and they just sent me a new one today. It's not ad-supported, but it's running 3.2.1 and won't take the 0.7.N jailbreak. So sad! I do still have the old one, so if it's possible to extract the firmware and downgrade that would be cool. If not I guess I'll just have to wait. Anyway, thanks to everyone who's put in all the time and effort on jailbreaks thus far.
