A 4th series of Torchwood is being filmed now, and will be shown later this year.

I think TW is excellent, personally. It'll be interesting to see how they "resurrect" it, given that the entire team, Gwen apart, is dead.

I'm sorry, but the "A Team" was an absolutely monstrous show, giving children the message that you can use firearms freely and afterwards everybody just gets up and walks away. Perhaps it was regarded differently in the US, with its "gun culture", but it was massively criticized (and rightly so, IMHO) for that when it was shown in the UK.

Last night's Doctor Who, on the other hand, was absolutely excellent!

True, but "first stories" are very much about establishing characters. If you look back at the first appearances of Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant, neither were memorable stories.

Just like sex, there's really no such thing as "bad Doctor Who". Any is better than none .

The major world religions do that pretty well, without Doctor Who. Compare the Buddhist view of the afterlife with the Christian. Which one is "right"? Is either? How do you know?

The (admittedly few) times I watched it, it seemed to be more to do with teaching that any problem can be solved with the application of extreme violence and ludicrous amounts of firepower (which, amazingly, never actually hurt anyone).
