What's the issue? rtf => mobi
I'm doing a fairly large conversion and i seem to have around 300+ .rtf's that have this same issue below. Anyone have an idea for a fix so i can run it as a batch rather than re-saving each one as a different file type?

Since you have so many with the error, another theory I didn't mention in the other thread is that there is a strong likelihood that the files aren't rtf at all, they're .txt using the wrong extension. Batch re-naming would be easier with 300 files than using MS Word one by one, so give renaming a shot too.

@dwanthny ty for the link
@Idolse thanks for the input What I found out is the documents were saved in a different encoding than calibre is used to converting. Because when you open them with word pad or ms word a dialog box pops up asks you to choose a encoding type. After that is done if you then "save as" over top of the file as a rtf again. At the top of the page in word on the bar by the title it will change to say for example. The Island - Gene Wolfe.rtf(Compatibility Mode) - Microsoft Word After that the file will convert just fine. What i had to do in order to work down the list of non nonverted errors and find them very quickly was go to mobi which i had converted to and rate everything that got converted (mobi) with a star and then sort for non stars in all formats and work down the list Last edited by penguinaka; 05-01-2011 at 09:39 AM. |
