I didn't say I approved. I left my last job because I had refused to lie and do or ignore illegal things as instructed by my manager and was starting to get harassed because of it. I was able to afford to retire at that point and chose to do that rather than go to HR and fight it out.

Kerny, Maybe in Amerika there is "no" corruption or lying but in a lot of the world there is. Not that I like it but that's the way it is. Why take it out on Jennifer... Robertb isn't ....He is just letting it go and moving on..

It is also unfair for me to comment in any way on Astak or its products... I simply cannot. I am actively looking for other work and we will see where that leads. That does NOT lessen how much I miss all of you. That is one of the worst parts of this mess.

In the meantime, I am back on the streets again looking for employment. Remember me fondly, all. ALL of you do remain in my heart and my prayers!!
(just saw this posted as I was posting apparently)

Hmmm, logins are not tied to a company or email, so why the new login?

Sorry to be skeptical, but this whole thing stinks to high heaven.

Because he who does not speak up is doomed to the fate of those the go before. Sure this is a small thing, but this kind of behavior on the part of businesses and their employees is one thing at the core of what is rotting not only the U.S.A. but the world.

In the words of Martin Luther King, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

In the US it various all over. Some states there is no employment contract, called a 'as is'. Either the employer or employee can stop the employment relationship without explanation or notice. Other locations in the US require notice, even though there is no employment contract. In others, there is a signed contract, and the 'I am leaving' or 'you are being fired' has a list of things that have to happen.

In this light, Robert's departure may be explainable, but still there is something about this that makes me a little uncomfortable.

Cheers,
In the US it mostly depends on why the person is leaving and company policy.

Amiable departure, you may get a departing lunch, a cake, and a bye nice knowing you card.

Or the 2 weeks pay, don't come back.

Once there are more options and the price is lower, there will be a huge surge on the needs of such larger readers.
I showed my Astak 5" EZPro to my supervisor last year. He said it looks interesting, but he would prefer one that was 8.5x11 inch so he didn't have to zoom in to read technical, and other, documentation.

He wanted easier rotate to see spreadsheets to.

He was amazed at the amount of material that could be stored in one, but readability of technical material and screen size were his main concerns.

That would be over 14". No one makes one that big. Once you put a bezel around it and tried to protect it from breaking you might as well use the screen on your desk. It is no longer a portable reading device IMHO. And what would he be willing to pay for such a device?

Forgive us our suspicions, if you really ARE RobertB....

I can see three scenarios here:

1. Robert was forced to close his original account here by his former employers and this is truly him with a new account.

2. Astak decided they have a public relations nightmare on their hands and decided some farewell words from "Robert" were necessary, and if they did not sound altogether complimentary to the company then so much the better...and so made an account impersonating him. Short term damage vs. long term PR problems (yes, I'm a skeptic about Korporate Amerika).

3. Some anonymous person saw the fuss about Robert, and decided, for whatever twisted reason, that it would be fun to impersonate him and make fools of all of us. Stranger things have happened.

Which is it? I have no idea. I'd LOVE to believe it's RobertB come back to us, but bless his heart, I'm not sure how he'd prove it if it is... not with this group of intelligent skeptics. Anyone have any questions that only RobertB would know the answer to?

I don't believe that it is Robert because Robert began his comments with the phrase "Dear all" while this begins "Hello all".

I have a question from a PM conversation I had with Robert back in June. What were the weights and ages of the kitties you lost earlier this year and when did you lose them? I'm sorry to use so sad an event for this purpose, but I doubt anyone in the Astak office would still remember that tidbit of information if they knew in the first place.

LOL.

Well, whether it is Robertb, or an Astak impersonator, the result is the same: we now appear to have confirmation that Astak (not Jenifer) lied to us because they didn't have the integrity to just say, "Robert is no longer with the company due to <state any vaguely relevant truth here>" -- something we all would have accepted and moved past.

Unless, of course, we are dealing with the sicko 3rd option.
