Sure do. Like, how did it happen, and how can I duplicate the process?

I don't know what you're talking about, Jon. There's a perfectly singular and serviceable avatar right next door to this post (okay, fine, so there is now). I'm sure its presence completely clears up the whole "clone" thing though.

I found it. It was behind the couch, socialising with some largish mutant cockroachs and munching on some very old pizza crusts, and bathing happily in the warm irradiating glow of an old briefcase-size nuclear reactor I was once trying to modify into a superfast deep-fryer (I wanted instant fission-chips). It doesn't seem unduly affected by the experience.

Easy Rickey, There's nothing left but the shape. Very few fossils consist of the original material, they've been replaced by other minerals. I have a beatiful fossil snail shell from Waller Creek on the UT campus, totally replaced by iron pyrite.

i love fossils. some of my favorites are trilobites. they're so steam-punky (which is ironic since they were extinct long before anyone was making any sort of metal alloy or learning how to combine combustion and propulsion in a productively controlled way). i'm intensely frustrated by the fact that i didn't grow up in some place littered with fossiles, so i could have found them while playing in the garden.

How do you know that for sure? Perhaps aliens, or Atlanteans had them as pets.

good point. perhaps it's perfectly logical then.

in fact, perhaps they are actually not fossilized creatures but artifacts of ancient technology !!! that would make sense to me.

Maybe trilobites were a form of organic armour on the hulls of the alien Atlantean ships?
