Failed to Fetch Economist
I am trying to fetch the Economist but it keeps failing and then keeps retrying. This causes me to have to hit OK many times to cancel all of the error dialog boxes.
I am using the default profile and it has worked for me for several weeks. I am able to manually log in to the Economist so my password and ID are ok. By the way - Calibre is a FANTASTIC piece of software. So far I am only using it to fetch mags & newspapers but two enthusiastic thumbs up to you Kovid! I believe this is caused by this week's double issue of the economist. (Similar thing happened to the time year-end issue)
I guess the recipe has to be fine-tuned to support that. Unfortunately, I don't know python good enough to do it myself. |

You should still be able to use the free Economist recipe (that uses RSS feeds)

I just tried visiting the economist print edition page and got this error message
" We are sorry that we are unable to display the page that you should see here. We have recorded the problem and we will look into it soon. " So it seems like their server is having trouble |

Just accessed their print edition and it appears to be working.
Still getting the same error from Calibre thought - I have a valid subscription as well. Very strange... Emm3t |

Emm3t is right, the print edition page is still there - but I noticed that the text says "The world this year" rather than "The world this week" (the text that the script searches for). However, that must not be the only change, since I changed the recipe accordingly and it still bombs.
The free version misses most of the stories and includes a lot of stories from a week ago, so I don't find it useful. |

I've uploaded a fixed recipe, you should be fine now as long as you are using 0.6.28

It worked great - thanks a lot! Will have to check it again next issue to make sure it will still work with the "weekly" format.
Great program - it really makes my e-reader so much more useful! |

What do you have to do to use the fixed recipe as opposed to the old one. I am running 0.6.28.

It should just work if you're using the builtin recipe (updated versions of the builtin recipe are automatically download from the calibre server)
In any case 29 was released with the fixed recipe |
