Well, the seminar is on ebook creation. Obviously it won't cover PDFs.

Someone should make a forbidden sign with a "Th" ligature in there. I shall call it "`The PDF is not an eBook format' sign".

Maybe it shouldn't be, but it's currently the most popular format for free books coming from major sources.

Minor ones too.

Yeah, but that's because publishers are stuck in the past. Relics of a bygone age, I say!

I don't think the majority (their audience) knows the difference.

Hopefully times will change.

It's one of those annoying pages that try to hold you hostage by making your back button keep bringing you right back to it, rather than to your previous page. That tactic alone is dubious.

Oh, and you have to sign up.

Did anyone watch it? What are they selling?

They're doing another webinar November 18th. This time the subject is "eBook Readers and Standards... Where to Next?"

Quote:
As the eBook market rapidly unfolds, it seems to get more complex by the day. Publishers are struggling to adapt as competitive and consumer pressures demand that their titles be compatible with the multitude of new eBook applications and eReaders coming to market.

To develop a successful eBook production strategy, you need to take a clear position on where the market is today and will be tomorrow. In this 60-minute webinar, Sarah Rotman Epps, Forrester’s eBook Market Analyst, and Michael Smith, Director of the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) which manages the ePub standard, present their highly informed views on the future for eBook readers, formats and standards.

How will it all shake out? Join these two industry experts to get the inside track on the future and better position yourself to take advantage of the biggest driver of industry innovation to hit the publishing world in decades – eBooks.

KEY TOPICS:

eBook readers – market movers, trends and forecasts.

The battle over bells and whistles – which will stand the test of time?

Making sense of eBook formats – what's right for your content?

The current standards landscape – is it really all about ePub?

The future of ePub – what's pivotal to pervasive adoption?
