True. Money that old would probably be more valuable than the original value. I remember once my mom found an 1863 penny. It wasn't in good shape but was still worth several bucks.

I think that Billi meant that £10 in the 1780s was worth a lot more than £10 today. You could live reasonably comfortably on £100/year at that time.
