Hey there from Athens, GA!
Stumbled upon this forum and decided to stick around and see what I can learn. I received my Kindle 2i as a Christmas gift... My stinker husband had me researching it for his father for Christmas! Turns out he never intended to get it for his Dad (who he thinks is too technologically challenged); but, had me researching my own gift!
Anyhow, I'm a book fiend and I believe my DH bought me the Kindle out of self preservation. With over 3,000 DTBs in my collection, I think he was afraid he was going to get squished right out of the house! Now that I have the Kindle, he is gradually acquiring more and more elbow room as I purge the DTBs and replace them with the electronic version. And my book hoarding continues... I already have over 800 books on my Kindle. Thank goodness for Project Gutenburg or we would have been bankrupt by now! Last edited by ArtWench; 04-07-2010 at 01:50 AM. Welcome to this very nice place. You will be very happy to have joined in.
The first thing you want to do is to go here and read, and enjoy. That stinker is smart, though! If you want to hoard more, check out the E-Books section. Ciao |

Welcome to MobileRead, ArtWench!
Have you taken your Kindle out in public? I can tell you from experience that the people of Athens are curious and will ask lots of questions about a piece of unfamiliar technology. And the first question they ask is typically "Is that a Kindle?" so you should have an easier time answering the question than I do with my Sony Reader. Dreamer |

Wow! Gone for a day and look at the warm welcome! Thank you all!
recluse - It is such a comfort to know that I'm not the only one! LOL! happy_terd - Thanks! I see that you don't have an eReader yet. Are you checking out the boards to see what everyone likes? Almas - Thank you! Love the cat! beppe - Thanks for the link! Will check it out. BookishDreamer - Oh yeah, everywhere I go people ask about it. I told my husband that I need to be getting a commission on all of these that I sell. At one doctor's office the nurse ordered one while I was still there! LOL! Funny that the Kindle should be more well known. The Sony Reader was the first, wasn't it? Seems like I had been eyeballing it forever before the Kindle came out. Lady Blue - Thank you for such an artistic greeting! How sweet of you. GA Russell - Thanks! I go to church in Winder. I love that it is still a small (ish) town. cassidym - Thanks! I see you have an iPhone... Have you tried reading on it? How do you like it? |
