Source of book cover jpgs

Could someone please point me to a link where I can
find down-loadable book cover files. My main interest is covers
for public domain books such as are found at Gutenberg or Manybooks.

Thanks for any help

Fantastic Fiction is a good source.

Calibre has a "Fetch Cover Art" function that works quite well. I have no idea where it gets them from though.

Alternatively, just use Google. Type in the title, and then do an image search. You'll get covers.

Search Flickr. It has several book cover pools.
But most of the time a Google image search comes through. If the image you want is too small or of bad quality you can use TinEye Reverse Image Search to look for a better version.

Also you may want to take a look at Cover Browser.

The problem with that is books old enough to be in the public domain come largely before the standard was to have artwork on the covers. This, for example, is the original cover of The Time Machine (from Wikipedia)

And this looks, as far as I can tell, to be the first cover of Tom Sawyer:

Yes you can find images suitable for book covers from Flickr. However you're better off choosing an image from a stock photography site such as shutterstock.com
123rf.com or dreamstime.com and then compositing it with another image - perhaps by using Photoshop. Here are some tips on creating professional book covers [Probable spam link deleted.]

A 4 year old thread! Is this a record?

Probably not.

I didn't even notice it was that old til you mentioned it pidgeon92. I doubt it is the record though like you said. Every now and then someone performs a bit of literary necromancy.

A brand new member, and this is his first post on his first day? I wonder what his relationship to that web site is.

And there are some good generic covers right here at MR in the Calibre sub forum. I use one of the leather ones myself quite often because I like the look of it.
