Apparently the bookmark I had saved on my iThings for the mobile site no longer works. It redirects to the "normal" Overdrive site. (Fairfax, BPL and OCLS). Noooooo... :-(((((

Somewhere back in one of the early pages of this discussion, someone posted about being able to change just a couple numbers in the URL to switch between the full and mobile versions. I don't know what page it was on but maybe if you start at the beginning of the thread and work your way through you can find it.

My current problem is that the NC library keeps making me sign in over and over. Typical session goes like this: I log in; click My Account; get booted back to sign-in-page; sign in again, it goes to my bookshelf, I click "list", get booted back to sign in page, I sign in again, it goes to my list, etc etc; sometimes I end up logging in half a dozen times. I think this may be a problem with Internet Explorer 11 because I tried logging in on a computer at work that has an older version of IE and I didn't have this problem.

I wish that the Overdrive Advanced Search would allow selection of more than one genre.

Does anybody know how many times a book can be renewed? Most of the books on my holds list turn over a reasonable rate, but I have been #2 on the list for one particular book for a long long time; I wonder if somebody has been renewing it over and over again.

Just as with paper books, you can't renew (or take out again) if someone is waiting for it.

With paper, my neighborhood library will often take reserves for books on order, even months before publication. I once saw this for an eBook with Overdrive, or 3M, or Axis 360, but can't remember which.

Unfortunately the trick DianNC posted on page 7 (#95) (changing the numbers from 10/50 to 40/20) no longer works. I'd been using that on my iPad and iPhone and it broke some time this week. The large covers even in list mode are a PITA, especially on the iPhone. Grmpf...

I have to keep logging in when checking out books or placing holds on both BPL and OCLS (I'm using Firefox 29 RC1 on a Mac), so it seems to be an Overdrive thing.

That's what I thought, but I'm sure I've been at #2 for this book for at least a couple of months. Maybe there is some kind of glitch with this particular book.

This happened at my local library as well. It lasted a few days then was fixed. It was very annoying.

It wasn't an IE problem as it was happening to me with Chrome.

This has been going on for a couple weeks (except for the one day I tried a computer at work that has some older version of IE - I think it's IE8 - it worked fine on that computer)

I sure hope they fix it soon.

Is your Overdrive library a part of a consortium (a group of libraries all participating in the same Overdrive library)? There are a couple I belong to that have an indicator that certain libraries bought "extra" access to certain books. So if their participants get in line for a book, they may get bumped ahead of other users.

ETA: Forgot to say, those books display an orange checkmark on them, so you can tell which books on a consortium site that might have priority borrowing by certain of the libraries.

I believe consortiums merely allow individual libraries to buy a book without sharing it to the other member libraries.

They are not fast-tracking their patrons up the holds list, but they may give their patron, say, the secret 2nd copy of the book that is exclusive to that consortium branch. So you'd get moved up the list faster since people on hold for the book are getting copies faster. You have just as much right to the shared copy though.

It appears that Overdrive has gotten rid of that annoying "dogeared corner" that let you know if a book was available or not, but also often blocked the book's title.

The circle with the book/headphone graphic in it blocks almost as much - I'm not sure it's an improvement.

Only almost as much. Isn't that an improvement?

Though I think it actually covers more of the name and/or title then it did before because it's down and over from the corner and there usually isn't anything in the very top of the corner anyway.
