One week to go?

Robertb's original estimate was that our (my son's) pocket pro's would arrive at his place in a week and be shipping out soon thereafter. Now, I know how many things can come between a plan and reality so I thought we'd marshal our collective forces to grease the skids a bit. If you can help out with any of the following, please step in.

1) Longshoreman's Union: I've had imports held up because of dock strikes. If we have any union members here, can you please tell them about the sacredness of labor day and that they need to hold off any planned strikes until after that date?

2) US Customs: I know that the pocket pro is a new device, but it really is the same for customs purposes as the Sony readers, the Kindles and all of those other books. Can someone make sure they know how to classify it so its not held up?

3) Astak Staffing: Astak may well be overwhelmed by the millions of readers arriving. What happens if the first 100,000 they open and repack are all Chartreuse? Does that mean that my slate blue reader will be delayed in shipment? Is there anyone on the west coast who can volunteer to help them in the shipping department? Please, however, do not volunteer if you are color blind. I'd hate to have to give my son a hot pink reader.

4) Banking: Of course as one of the early committers (or is that committed as in I should be committed?) I am expecting a rebate check. If you have contacts at the Astak bank, please make sure they have funds at the account in question.

Are there any other issues that I have not covered? If you can think of anything, please step in to help.

Meanwhile, I've got to go. I'm off to make sure my UPS person has their flu shots, and I'm going to try to sign them up to take part in the H1N1 (swine flue) vaccine trial.

Thanks for all of your help.

Dear emellaich:

I am waiting to hear from my employee who is in Taiwan on the exact schedule. We have heard only that August 31 we will be shipping out and I want confirmation. We are fine on staffing and once they arrive we will be busily at work shipping.

You did forget some areas.

Hire the dog whisperer (Cesar Millan) to make sure all the dogs in the neighbourhood are calm and submissive and won't attack the delivery driver.
Arrange a police escort to prevent any possible robbery. Oh and maybe pray for good weather also.

Ooooh. I'd stay away from that shot. I am refusing any shots. I've never had a flu shot, and never have had vaccines, save as a child.

On the other hand, my two younger brothers, both avid sportsmen and hunters in fine physical condition, were in the military, and they are now both dead. Cancer. At 32 and 36.

Something is being put in the vaccines. I urge everyone to search the net for information. Countries are waking up to this and forbidding/refusing to subject their citizens to this shot.

I know you said this simply in jest, but I'm only beginning to be more aware of this so-called Pandemic.

Sorry.

But yes, definitely, I greatly await my Slate Blue PEZ!!

Of course, Robert, and I understand that the actual timing will be whatever it is. I hope you did know I was just joking didn't you? I'm sure you will do the best you can .

yeah they made the Anthrax shot mandatory again. God Damn that shot series hurts......

I am looking forward to the Reviews of the Pro. Although I am also thinking about going to Berlin for the Convention, and have a look at the products up there, especially the Pocketbook 360.

The reason I can be so casual about the delivery date is because it is for my son, not me. I already have my Kindle .

H1N1 vaccine trials? Here in Australia, the Government have started the first of the nationwide rollout of H1N1 vaccine this week.

I wish countries and governments would wake up to this...

Don't think the Government had much of a choice. When projected 70% of the population will be infected within 2 years, even when the illness is not as severe as Influenza A or B, something needs to be done.

That's BS. It's a media con. How can 700 worldwide swine-flu incidents suddenly blossom to thousands a few days later. It's all hype to get people to take these flu shots that have cancer cells in them.. Who knows what else.

Test patients have either died, or became deathly ill afterwards, and records were doctored and changed. The truth is out there if people will search it out for themselves instead of accepting everything the media spins and hands us.

It's genocide and population control. You might be thinking "ooh, conspiracy theory", but it's not just theory, the facts are there. *shrug*

This is one way to keep health costs down....

I do not trust any of the propaganda regarding this outbreak, and I would be skeptical of any vaccine...

I thought they said it really didn't work against this strain....

It doesn't. It's full of stuff that has nothing to do with the strain.

Anyway, sorry for going off-topic and starting this here. I think I might need to have most of this talk moved to the lounge.

Again, apologies for taking this off-course.
