Python 261 In Windows Problems

Hi:

I am new to python and was wondering if I could get some help from someone who has successfully used it under Windows. I am running Windows XP SP3 I have downloaded and installed Python 261 into the default C:\Python26 directory.

I added C:\Python26 to my WIndows Path.

I have downloaded a script which I placed in the C:|python26\Tools\Scripts directory. I am not sure if that is where I should have placed it or not.

If someone could private message me here or to my email address jwsheets@comcast.net, with a little advice I would greatly appreciate it.

I have Vista personally, but I think it's the same here.
I put my scripts directly in the Python26 folder, so I open a command window on this folder.
Then I tape
Code:
Pythonw NameOfScript.py
followed by the parameters if demanded.
It works so far !

Hi, all. Just joined this place. I've used Python successfully before. Now installed it on a different pc and tried running a script. I get the following message -

can't find' __main__py'

Any help about that would be appreciated

Check that the python directory is listed in your c:\Path list. You may have to manually add it. Sometimes, on some computers, the directort=y isn't added during install.
