De-authorize

I've sold my 505 and the new owner can't authorize it as it registered to me. I am unable to de-authorize via the Sony site. (I have tried)

I think you have to call Sony Support and they will remove it from your account. If you login, you should be able to find the number to call.

Not sure how this would work in the UK, but in the U.S.:

You can call us at 877-263-2863 during the hours of:
8:00am - Midnight, EDT; Monday - Friday and 9:00am - 8:00pm EDT; Saturday and Sunday

I recently bought a second hand Sony 505 & once I had downloaded Adobe Digital then I was able to authorise myself which then deauthorised him. I know this as he had left several books on there, which I could access until I had authorised myself, after which they were no longer available to me. He did not deauthorise himself. I also registered the device with Sony online.

Sony UK talked me through the procedure to de-authorize. Here it is:

1. Turn on.
2. Press reset button on rear of the reader.
3. Cycle the power off and on.
4. As the unit is powering up, press and hold for 30 seconds, 'Volume +' and 'Tab'
5. You are then presented with the option to completely delete all files. After taking this option the reader is de-authorized.

Hope this helps for anyone else with this problem.

I have recieved an email response from Sony ref de-authorization. Its different from the helpline advice:

1) Open up the Reader Library and highlight the E-Reader icon on the left hand side.
2) Once highlighted, press CTRL+SHIFT+D (tap D a few times), this will de-authorise the Reader.
3) Unplug Reader, go into SETTINGS then ABOUT to make sure the Reader is now de-authorised.

You will then be able to direct the person to whom you sold the reader to now re-authorise the Reader:

1) Plug the Reader back into the computer.
2) Drag and drop the purchased book onto the Reader icon on the left hand side.
3) You will now be asked to authorise the Reader, be sure to enter in the same Adobe ID details as you did to register with Digital Editions.
4) Go to STATUS, and it should say authorisation complete.

As you were - it's the Mark button, and the instructions are for a hard reset, much the easiest way to prep the beast for selling on.

Thanks
