The 600 is my third reader, but with my old 500 and 505, and, (although the 600 hasn´t shown any charging issues... yet) , I seem to recall that older models had issues with the circuit that monitors the charge. it seems it misreported the charge somehow, and even forced the unit shutdown. what I did was to reset the unit when it reached the "empty" state, but was still operable, and proceeded to recharge it, turned off and using the charger (not the USB). That usually took care of it, at least for a while.

Hope this works for you

here's what I don't get- I thought the only battery use involved was when we turned pages on the Reader, and that page display did not take battery. (Music, dictionary, hi-lights, etc., all take battery too of course)

So why should not completely powering down the Reader overnight drain battery? If the machine is in sleep mode instead of off, but no one is there turning pages, why does it drain battery? Does it?

I, too, am still waiting to hear from Sony about the 'refurbished' 600 they sent me that is clearly broken. It's actually worse than the one I sent back because the reset button doesn't work either. It just causes the reader to freeze.

I'm trying to completely drain the battery so I can get a fresh re-charge (wall charger) and start over. I hope for better results but I shouldn't have to go through these acrobatics just to read a book.

Maybe I'll go back to paper until I can get an i-slate.
