How to side-load files to News and Magazines section

Hello,

A simple (I think...) question from a newbie, but I could not see the answer anywhere in the forum.

I fetch news from different sources every day through Calibre and send them to my Kobo Glo. Kobo treats each issue as a new book, rather than news and magazines. How can I automatically send the files to the news and magazines section of the library? Thank you!

Simple answer; you can't. News and Magazines are for materials subscribed to via Kobo; not for items you load yourself.

I use Calibre to download a few newspapers. When I connect Kobo Touch to my computer with Calibre running those newspapers are auto transfered to Kobo's News folder. I can manually use Calibre to transfer those news papers to Kobo's SD card.

Navigate to Kobo's Settings menu. Sketch Pad is one of the 4 items in Extras. Sketches are saved in Kobo's News folder. Sketch pad can not delete saved Sketches. I use computer connected to Kobo to delete sketches from News folder. Could use computer's file explorer or Calibre to delete unwanted saved sketches.

I suggest you might use a shelf to gather all the news and magazines into one place. Calibre can automatically put them on that shelf.

I will never be able to use Kobo's news and magazines it seems. Even after 2 years, it is still NOT available.

I got a new phone for Christmas (running Android) and I got the android kobo app (called "readers Hub") already installed on it. What surprised me is that I can buy news and magazines from that app, so why isn't it possible through my reader ? I just can't figure...

Yes, David's link should be a good start. Shelves are just a good way to organise your books.
