Help getting started

Hello,

as I said in the introduction forums, I am an experienced iOS and Mac developer, but new to PocketBook development.

I am facing some challenges that will hopefully be very simple questions to you ..

My development environment is Ubuntu 10.04, running as guest in VMWare Fusion for the Mac.

I have downloaded the PBSDK-linux-libwine_15.1.7 SDK. When building the ink demo, the most striking warning is:

/bin/sh: freetype-config: not found

There are some more warnings, but an executable is built. However, it does not run on the device.

Trying to build for the emulator fails with:

winegcc: i486-linux-gnu-gcc failed
make: *** [inkdemo] Error 2

(The rest of the warnings is like for arm, I can gladly post them here but they look unsupicious).

Firstly, I would like to resolve this freetype warning, but neither package freetype nor freetype2 will install.

How can I go about tackling this?

Thanks

Alex

If you want to develop for Pocketbook 602,603, 902,903 or 302:

use Sergey's PBSDK-version 1.1.0 instead (http://pbsdk.vlasovsoft.net/)
It works perfectly! On his site he even shows, how to include it in eclipse-IDE.

Maybe your freetype-problem will not be solved with that SDK as well - but it could be solved and Sergey's version is really the best SDK for Pocketbook anyway.

Thanks a lot! It does appear this is the best SDK out there.

I no longer see the freetype problem, but now I have other issues

Thanks for your reply and pushing me in the right direction!
