Amazon offering hundreds of free books
Amazon has just put up hundreds of classic books for free. Best to use Junglesearch.com to wade through the pages and pages.

3,575 eBooks are for free at Amazon.com now. I did a search in the Kindle store for the word ebook and then sorted by price.

What worked for me was to go to the Amazon page, and search in "Kindle Books" for Public Domain Books. Valid hits start to show on page two. |

sort by price and you don't even have to wait until page two ....
type in "public domain" and then the author you are most interested in, sort by price and ... oh my!! |

Really can't argue with free, especially when it's books. I'm sure there are some excellent classics in there. Thanks for the heads up.

Does anyone know of a way a Brit with a Sony ereader can take advantage of this, please??? I have not been able to figure out how to use Amazon for anything except the Kindle... Thanks so much!

BUT you do realize we have lots of free books (8,000 at last count), and many are formatted for your Reader. Check them out here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/ebooks.php?forumid=126 These are all public domain books, just like all of these free books on amazon. |

Unfortunately, only people who own a Kindle can buy ebooks from the Amazon Kindle site. If you are looking for free classics this forum has a great collection -- if you haven't found them yet, go to the top of the page and click on the 'ebooks' tab, use the Sony format. You can also download free classics from Feedbooks and Manybooks.
Happy reading! |

There is once again hope of finding the featured/promotional books for the Kindle, in the sea of public domain books! This search sorts them so that the featured books are listed first (it also appears to show any free blogs, so I suspect it will show free magazine or newspaper issues, if they exist):
FreeOnKindle I have even figured out how to completely exclude the public domain books and set up a second search for that one: KindlePromotions The first one I set up limits the list to free (zero dollar) Kindle books and sorts by "promotions/features". The second link also excludes the publisher "public domain books" and right now gives you just 12 books (the current freebies). Hopefully in a few days those 16 Harlequin books will join the list.
