Hmmmm .... I tried detonating the lithium batteries but I quit smoking long ago and didn't have a lighter in my pockets. So I tried hitting them with my coffee cup (I didn't have any rocks in my office to use) .... but apparently molded porcelain won't spark ....
So I threw the batteries into the hallway, shouted "BOMB! Run away to safety!" and ran to the parking lot. .... end of fantasy .... But I did make it home safely .... now off for a looooooong walk.... |

I'm working from 7pm until 9pm tonight so I'm having a warm lunch. But now I have to decide what to get. Greek, Turkish, MacDonalds, broodje kroket (Dutch), Subway...
But first I'm going by Lush to buy some bath goodies (our vacation apartment has a bath!) and one of my favourite shower gels, Olive Branch. |

Cats! Can't live without them! Even if they're programmed to reduce your brain to mindless pulp!
So .... Goldie cat is the smallest of our cats - apparently had an abusive kittenhood with little socialization with people - when we adopted her she displayed "please don't kill me" cringing behaviors but very little trust. Didn't want to be held, didn't socialize well with people, but got along with the other cats. So we let her develop at her own speed and she eventually became a snuggly lap cat (finally!) that boldly claimed the bed next to my right side as her sleeping area. But she remained largely a 'watcher' rather than a participant in human/cat playtime activities. When we acquired Stella, Goldie began to develop an outgoing personality and became more and more active. Sometimes frighteningly so. Which leads to last night .... Our living room has a cathedral ceiling. There is a built in 3 section wall unit of shelving along one wall for knick-knacks, TV, etc. The top of the unit is at least 7-8 feet above floor level. We added a DVD cabinet along one side of it - which is Stella's favorite hang out. None of our cats has ever attempted to jump to the top of the wall unit - or even seemed to notice it. But last night, tiny Goldie effortlessly floated to the top of the DVD cabinet and onto the top of the wall unit without pausing. We had never seen Goldie on top of the DVD cabinet ever! Only Stella. I dropped everything and ran to the wall unit, looking for a chair to climb on to 'rescue' poor Goldie - who must be terrified by the height ... right? Wrong! She trotted along the top of the 3 units, watching my panicked approach ... and then floated soundlessly down onto the DVD cabinet to the floor .... and ran to the kitchen for a reward of treats. Goldie has a congenital heart condition .... but it was my heart that was hammering its way out of my ribs. If she pulls any more stunts, it's going to kill me. Our little girl has grown up! And become a cat! |

Seems as if it will be a nice 'travel' camera, but the ergonomics would prohibit using 70-200 or 17-35 lenses. It doesn't look as if it would balance with a heavy lens. Nice for people who want to look like the old street photographers using film cameras, and perhaps great for 'snapshots,' but I'd hate to 'work' with it! It uses the old style cable release! I can only imagine the camera shake that will cause!

Eh, to me the best part of the classic control scheme was the aperture dial on the lens. Sure you could use an older Nikon lens, but then you don't get the modern coatings or silent wave motor.

Know what feels really disconcerting? I was clipping my toes a few minutes ago and Crystal, our Volkswagen-sized monster dog, started eating the clippings as they fell from my toes. It's a strange feeling seeing a dog waiting to eat any body parts that happen to fall to the floor. And this is a spoiled, well-fed dog who gets canned food in the morning for breakfast, Fresh Pet refrigerated pet food in the evenings, beaucoup treats in-between, and who, in addition, always has some dry food in her dish for snacking on. Makes me wonder how long the rest of me would last if I dropped dead while no one was home. Would my wife come looking for me only to find leftovers?

I just called the doctor and I'm very relieved now.
About six weeks ago I got prescribed cortisone cream for eczema (stress related I'm convinced), which was really bad. After it had worked I was able to keep it under mostly under control with Cetaphil lotion and tea tree oil, but at times those didn't work and I had to use the cortisone cream, often just once or twice was enough. But, I only have a little of the prescribed cream left and I'm going away on vacation next week. I was afraid that if I asked for it again I had to come by and I would be either referred to a specialist or would get another prescription (the cortisone cream I got is very strong). I just called, because I don't want to be without next week when I'm not at home, and the assistant talked to the doctor and I can pick up a new tube at the pharmacy after 3pm today. I'm now so relieved I won't be without it next week, chances are now that I don't need it, but if I was without I would. |

Glad to hear that it is under control and that you don't need the medicine all that often. The scratching can be really insane.

My dogs love the antlers we get for them. The problem is they end up under the couch or in the little mans play area since he likes playing with them and throws them in. One of our dogs eats anything and everything she can. I would be worried if I ever fell and couldn't get up and she was hungry. I don't buy that her cute lie on the bed, staring at me, licking her lips, is an effort to get me to feed her more dog food or early. I think she is figuring out what my most delicious asset would be.
